Aspergillus A common indoor mold, Aspergillus grows in dust, basements, and ceiling tiles. While some strains are relatively harmless, others produce mycotoxins that can cause more serious health effects, especially for the immunocompromised.
Penicillium Recognized by its blue or green surface, Penicillium thrives on water-damaged materials such as drywall and insulation. It has a strong musty odor and is known to worsen asthma and sinus problems.

Joe arrived on time, entertained me with tales of traditional deep South Philly, where up means down (south) and down means up (north) -- or maybe vice versa? -- and educated me unsurprisingly on mold (you can't just buy the machine that tests for it, for example, you need certification).
