These guys are great. Joe went above and beyond with talking through my specific situation. Mike did the actual mold inspection and he was great too - prompt, knowledgeable, and fast. I had the report in my inbox 2 days later. Highly recommend

Joe and his team were great to work with - Joe responded to all my questions - his team was very organized and diligent and did a great job addressing my mold issues. They removed wallboard and vanity. Joe also recommended a very good person to handle the replacement for the wallboard
How could I possibly express in words my gratitude to Joe, Mike and the entire team at MSI?! When to our horror, water damage brought mold to our home, Joe and the team at MSI came highly recommended from a neighbor and I will be forever grateful. From the first phone call until the insurance claim was processed and the remediation paid for, Joe was kind, informative, and incredibly helpful at connecting us to the other resources (a public adjuster, duct cleaning, etc.) we would need to take care of our home. They got to us quickly and our job was quite extensive. The team was highly professional, communicative, and efficient. They took care of the mold and kept us safe and informed every step of the way. Should you ever need mold remediation work done, MSI is the only team I would call!

I recently worked with Mold Solutions and Inspections following a water loss insurance claim, and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience. Joe was incredibly helpful, taking the time to explain every step of the process and providing support from start to finish. The entire team was punctual, professional, respectful, and kept the work area clean throughout the project. Their attention to detail and commitment to customer service made a stressful situation much easier to navigate. I've already recommended them to a coworker and would highly recommend them to anyone dealing with a water loss or insurance claim.

Joe and his team at MSI were fantastic! They helped us clear up a water damage issue in our basement in Point Breeze. The guys who came buy were efficient and professional. Joe himself has been great, even going above and beyond to provide guidance and recommendations for next steps after his job was done. I highly recommend this company!

We’ve lived in our home for almost 20 years and have (unfortunately) needed MSI’s services four different times. Each time, Joe and his team have been outstanding. From the first phone call to the final follow‑up, every step is handled with genuine friendliness and true professionalism. Joe even remembered us after more than a decade between jobs.

In a time when it can be hard to get service providers to even call you back, MSI is a real standout. No one wants to deal with water damage or mold, but knowing this team is out there doing high‑quality, reliable work has been a game changer for us as homeowners.

Fast, Reliable and Straight to the Point! I called for a mold inspection quote and within minutes, Joe returned my call and scheduled my inspection. Mike was able to come out the next day, and the tests took no time at all. After the tests, Joe reviewed the results with me and clearly answered my questions about them. I appreciate their professionalism, and I highly recommend MSI if you need a mold inspection.
Joe and his team were excellent. Immediately responded and started the job within 24 hours. Extremely communicatative; explained everything in detail.

These guys have 5 stars for a reason. We had an issue with bathroom mold that needed to be treated and I had to cancel after setting a date. Joe was understanding, communicative, and helpful along the way. Once we rescheduled, the team was full of professionals that diligently remediated the affected area and cleaned up everything nicer than when they first arrived. I highly recommend them to anyone and everyone.

Joe arrived on time, entertained me with tales of traditional deep South Philly, where up means down (south) and down means up (north) -- or maybe vice versa? -- and educated me unsurprisingly on mold (you can't just buy the machine that tests for it, for example, you need certification). And he taught me something I will never forget about footwear (won't share this important and memorable lesson here, however). Generally, a pleasant, efficient process to ensure that some roof leak damage hadn't developed into something nasty/pathological. He called to discuss the results he shared via email a few days after the testing and explained everything clearly. Fully confident in his expertise -- and will call again without hesitation if it comes down to it.

Joe is the absolute best. We needed to find someone to help test for mold during our inspection process. Joe and his team provided exceptional and timely service. Joe’s candor and willingness to talk you through the issues is exactly what we needed as first time home buyers. We 100% recommend MSI.

I recently purchased by first home and discovered there was mold in the crawl space. I closed on this home Friday of one week and had roommates moving in the very next Thursday. Joe, the owner of MSI, came out on Saturday, gave me a quote, and MSI was able to start on that Monday and get the job done in time! Joe is an amazing person that carries himself in a very disciplined and professional way, and he stands behind his company's work! The crew was equally as amazing and professional. Very kind, respectful, and a thorough job done top to bottom. After the job was completed, Joe was kind enough to explain to me how to set up my dehumidifier in my crawl space so the mold has a snowball's chance in hell of coming back. MSI is an amazing company, a quality brand, and a pleasure to interact with. Should the need arise, they'll be hearing from me again for more business! Thank you MSI!

I can’t say enough good things about MSI and especially Joe, the owner. From the very first phone call, he was incredibly kind and understanding of my anxiety about having mold in our home with an 8-month-old baby. I reached out with a lot of questions (probably more than most!) and Joe was always patient and never made me feel like I was bothering him.

They were able to start the remediation within a week of contacting them, which gave us huge peace of mind. The team was professional, respectful of our home, and explained what they were doing each step of the way. Knowing our baby’s health and safety were a priority to them made such a difference.

Should we need further remediation, we will definitely continue using them. I’m so grateful we found MSI and would recommend them to anyone who needs mold remediation.

Stop the Leak. Then Follow the Water.

A broken pipe shows you where the water started. It never shows you where the water ended up.

Water from a burst pipe moves fast. It races under flooring, slips behind baseboards, climbs inside walls, drops through ceilings, and soaks into insulation and subfloors, often within minutes.

That’s why Mold Solutions & Inspections (MSI) never treats burst pipe damage as a simple water-removal job.

Our IICRC-certified technicians trace the full path of the water, identify every affected material, extract the excess, establish controlled drying conditions, monitor moisture levels, and document the entire process.

The pipe tells us where the problem started. Our job is to find everywhere the water went.

Don’t wait for standing water to disappear on its own. It won’t. Call MSI now for 24/7 emergency service.

Burst Pipe? Do These 4 Things First.

When water is pouring into your property, what you do in the next few minutes matters. Act fast.

Shut Off the Water

01

If you can safely reach the shutoff valve, close it now. Not sure where the leak starts? Shut off your property’s main water supply until a plumber can get to the pipe.

Watch for Electrical Hazards

02

Water and electricity are a deadly mix. Stay out of standing water near outlets, appliances, electrical panels, or any energized equipment. When in doubt, keep out and call a professional.

Call a Plumber

03

The broken pipe has to be repaired before or during mitigation. MSI handles the water damage. Your plumber fixes the pipe.

Call MSI

04

Once the source is under control, one question drives everything: how far did the water travel? MSI’s 24/7 emergency team starts answering it fast, before the damage spreads.

Why a Burst Pipe Causes More Damage Than You See

Picture a pipe breaking in an upstairs bathroom. You mop up the water on the floor. That water may have already slipped beneath the flooring, saturated the subfloor, filled the wall cavity, and reached the ceiling below. The puddle you cleaned up was just the part you could see.

That’s why MSI works burst pipe damage from the inside out.

We don’t just ask, “Where is it wet?”

We ask, “Where could this water have traveled?”

That single shift uncovers damage most cleanups walk right past.

The MSI Difference: We Follow the Water

Most restoration companies can extract water. Most own air movers and dehumidifiers. That’s the bare minimum, and it tells you nothing about whether your building is actually dry.

MSI is built around moisture investigation and verification:

  • We locate where moisture is hiding
  • We measure it with professional equipment
  • We dry affected materials when appropriate
  • We monitor how those materials respond
  • We verify drying with readings, not guesswork

We don’t just remove the water you can see. We hunt down the moisture you can’t.

Our Burst Pipe Water Damage Process

Identify the Affected Areas

The break point is only the starting line. MSI evaluates surrounding and adjoining spaces to trace where the water moved. Depending on the break, we inspect:

  • Drywall
  • Ceilings
  • Baseboards
  • Wall cavities
  • Insulation
  • Carpeting
  • Hardwood flooring
  • Subflooring
  • Cabinets
  • Structural materials
  • Rooms beneath the leak
  • Adjacent spaces

This gives us a clear picture of the loss before drying ever begins.

Measure the Moisture

A material doesn’t have to look wet to be soaked. MSI uses professional moisture-detection equipment to read affected materials and set your initial moisture conditions.

Those readings give us something critical: a measurable starting point. Without that baseline, no one can honestly say whether materials are drying.

Extract Standing & Excess Water

When standing or extractable water is present, our commercial extraction equipment pulls it out fast. Efficient extraction slashes the moisture we’ll later remove through evaporation and dehumidification.

But clearing the visible water isn’t the finish line. It’s the start of the drying process.

Evaluate What Can Be Dried

Wet doesn’t automatically mean ruined. Some materials are strong candidates for drying instead of removal. Others need to go, based on their condition, contamination, accessibility, or inability to dry effectively.

MSI evaluates the real conditions first. The goal isn’t maximum demolition. It’s the right mitigation.

Establish Structural Drying

Once excess water is gone, we position commercial air movers and dehumidifiers to build the right drying environment.

  • Air movement drives evaporation from wet materials
  • Dehumidification pulls moisture out of the surrounding air

Together, they move moisture out of your building materials and into a controlled drying zone.

Monitor the Drying Process

Here’s where MSI stands apart. We never assume equipment is working just because it’s running.

Our technicians take moisture and atmospheric readings to track real progress. When an area isn’t responding, we investigate:

  • Airflow may need adjusting
  • Equipment may need repositioning
  • Moisture may be trapped somewhere that wasn’t obvious at first

Drying decisions follow the data.

Verify the Dry

A wall can feel dry and still hold elevated moisture. A floor can look normal while moisture lingers underneath.

That’s why MSI never calls a job done by touch or appearance alone. We use moisture measurements to confirm affected materials have hit proper drying goals.

Don’t settle for “it looks dry.” Know it’s dry.

Document the Project

When insurance is involved, proving what happened matters almost as much as the work itself. MSI documents the mitigation process:

  • Photographs
  • Affected areas
  • Moisture readings
  • Equipment placement
  • Drying progress
  • Work performed
  • Drying logs

The result is a clear, defensible record of your water loss and the mitigation behind it.

Where Does Water From a Burst Pipe Hide?

Water follows the path of least resistance, which means it rarely stops at the obvious damage. It hides:

Behind walls

01

Seeping into cavities and soaking drywall, framing, and insulation.

Beneath flooring

02

Trapped in padding, underlayment, or subflooring under a “dry” surface

Through ceilings

03

An upstairs break can damage ceiling assemblies and the rooms below

Behind cabinets

04

Kitchen and bath plumbing failures push water beneath and behind built-ins

Into insulation

05

Many materials hold moisture inside wall and ceiling assemblies

Into adjacent rooms

06

water doesn’t respect walls or doorways

The location of the broken pipe should never define the boundary of the investigation.

Burst Pipes & Mold: Why MSI Brings a Different Perspective

MSI has specialized expertise in both water damage and mold inspection and remediation. That combination matters, because nearly every mold problem starts as a moisture problem.

Our mold work has taught us a hard truth: the moisture that gets missed is often more dangerous than the water that was obvious.

So we zero in on concealed areas and drying verification after every burst pipe loss. We’re not just thinking about how your property looks today. We’re thinking about whether hidden moisture could turn into a costly problem tomorrow.

Frozen & Burst Pipes

Cold weather puts plumbing under serious stress. When water freezes inside a pipe, it expands, and that pressure can crack or rupture the line. Worse, the damage often stays hidden until the pipe thaws and water starts escaping.

A frozen-pipe event can strike:

Find a frozen or burst pipe? Stop the water source when it’s safe, call a plumber for the repair, and call MSI to evaluate and address the resulting damage.
